Retail Ecommerce Ventures is the owner of the e-commerce website known as dressbarn.com, which is marketed as Dressbarn. Its ancestor was the Dressbarn chain of women’s clothing stores, which was owned by Ascena and was in business from 1962 to 2019. Since the year 2020, Retail Ecommerce Ventures, situated in Miami, Florida, has been the owner of the business.
In February of 1962, Roslyn Jaffe established the first Dressbarn location in the city of Stamford, Connecticut. In a period in when more and more women were entering the job, Jaffe stockec designed gowns and other garments specifically for working women to wear to work.
In 1982, the business first started trading on the NASDAQ under the name DBRN. The company was reformed as a Delaware corporation in January 2011 and given the name Ascena Retail Group, Inc. in order to reflect the company’s expanded holdings. In addition, the company’s NASDAQ symbol was changed to ASNA in 2011.
Ascena Retail Group made the announcement that all 650 of its DressBarn stores would be shutting on May 21, 2019, and on December 26, 2019, those closings took place. After some time, Ascena decided to sell the Dressbarn brand to Retail Ecommerce Ventures, which had just been founded at the time by Tai Lopez and Alex Mehr. The Dressbarn website was revived in the year 2020.
